IN SERVICE
A DIFFERENT WORLD
The COVID-19 Pandemic of 2020-23 changed the world as we knew it.
Physical and Mental Health impacts aside, many of us were forced to re-invent ourselves and find new ways to earn, in order to survive—a terrifying concept, especially for those who hadn’t yet taken a great leap of faith in their lives, the kind that solo world travel, brings.
To survive or thrive in this new post-pandemic age, it’s essential that we reconnect with our imaginations, get intimate with our inner voices, and learn to communicate with our family and friends more openly, honestly and clearly than we have previously needed to, or known how to do.
The wisdom of ancient cultures persists for a reason: there is more to life than what we think we know.
It is through our connection to others and the planet itself that we can more deeply understand who we really are, where we’re from, why we’re here and what lies ahead.
The simplest and fastest way to get to that place is through acts of kindness, compassion and conservation.
Service.
SILVER LININGS
Whenever we share an act of service, even a simple one, being kind to someone; that action always benefits everyone at some level. Even if that benefit is so subtle that we can’t directly see an outcome, the resonance of its positivity is exponential, just like that damn curve we now see everyday, only cloaked in the darkness of its negative aspect, as the measure of daily viral infection rates and death tolls.
It is through the exponential effects of world service; kindness, compassion and simple acts of healing, that a new world will emerge from the chaos we’re now aware is but an arm and a half’s length away.
Social distancing, lockdowns, the loss of civil liberties and excess losses of human lives touched every person in every country in some way. Post-COVID, their impacts, for many, linger, and for millions, wars rage around them, the planet warms, and madmen rule the roost.
But for many also, this rapidly changing age we live in, continues to present opportunities for healing and transformation.
Many hold the opinion that it heralds the dawning of an age spoken of in many spiritual traditions; an era unlike any before.
All things told, generous opportunities abound; a chance to re-focus our energies, re-think our plans for the future, and to re-evaluate and re-cast our beliefs and our priorities.
Now is the time to re-discover community, to re-connect with and strengthen ties with our mob—our family and friends, near and far.
More than ever in our lifetimes, we have the chance to change the trajectory of the future—to heal the world and save the planet. But healing starts at home.
The time is now…
REIKI 霊気
Reiki (霊気), is a healing frequency of source energy,
present within all beings and readily available to them.
When drawn upon, or activated, Reiki resonates in harmony with its source and the “higher self” of the being presenting for healing. By illuminating the imbalance between the dualistic nature of the symptom presenting (be it phyiscal, mental or emotional) and the wholeness of its Source, Reiki, like a tuning fork, raises the polarised lower resonant frequency (symptom/disease) to meet the frequency of the higher self (greater good), where “thy will and my will are one”, restoring, in that moment, the natural state of harmony and wholeness.
In 1993, two months before my father died, I received a Reiki treatment from my sister. Recognising in Reiki something greater than my humanity and seeking understanding, I received the teachings and attunements for Reiki I and II, from Denise and John Crundall, a married couple from Melbourne. Denise and John were to become my life-long spiritual teachers and the community of their students from around the world, my spiritual “family”. To learn more about them and the healing centre they established, run by donations and volunteers, click here.Over the next decade, my love for Reiki, and Denise (no offence, John!) led me around the world, supporting their classes as a volunteer in Australia, Canada, the USA and Germany.
Back then, as a young lad, I made a commitment to world service and healing. In light of this commitment and in honour the lineage of which I’m a part, I will be using this platform to share some of my understandings of their teachings, the story of Reiki, along with anecdotes of life-changing encounters and experiences from my years on the road.
Reiki remains a huge part of my life.
