EDUCATION / TRAINING

University educated with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications, with majors in Journalism, Japanese, Cultural Studies, Film & TV production and Photography, I graduated from UTS (University of Technology, Sydney) in 1998. I took to the skies just after my 21st birthday, with a one-year round the world ticket, Reiki in my hands and the world at my feet, feeling free and alive. That year blew out in to five years spent traipsing around Canada and the USA then Switzerland and the UK, doing a bunch of different jobs and further educating myself in the University of Life and the School of Hard Knocks.

After opening and managing a Flight Centre retail outlet in Forster, NSW, I headed to Melbourne to join an amazing team of talented folks at Stage and Screen, where I cut my teeth as a corporate Travel Manager for the entertainment industry.

My roles involved the sourcing, booking and management of thousands of flights, hotel rooms and suites, limos and cars for a diverse mix of artists, crew and their travel companions, for an exciting array of nationwide Australian music tours, festivals and productions.

In 2012, I moved to Toronto, Canada, to take on a management role in the growing Toronto office; but my passion for writing kept calling me. By 2014 I was finally in a position to take a shot at freelancing exclusively, for Lonely Planet. So far, pandemics aside, I’m still going…
